フォーカルポイントは6日、独Elgato製の外付けポータブルSSD「Elgato Thunderbolt SSD」を国内向けに取り扱うと発表した。 販売開始は4月中旬。価格はオープンで、同社直販サイト価格は、240GB「ELG-TB-000002」が78,800円、 120GB「ELG-TB-000001」が49,800円。
「Elgato Thunderbolt SSD」は、高速データ伝送技術「Thunderbolt I/Oテクノロジー」に対応。 同技術はFireWire800を上回る10Gbsの高速転送が可能。 さらにSSDの特性による相乗効果で、転送速度は最大270MB/秒に及ぶという。
ケースは金属製のエンクロージャータイプとし、耐久性と堅牢性を確保。 放熱性能を備えることから冷却ファンを必要としないファンレス設計で静音性能も併せ持つ。
対応機種はThunderbolt端子を持つMacをはじめとしたパソコン。 2製品とも本体サイズは幅83×高さ131×奥行き21mm、重さは約270g。 なお、利用の際には別途Thunderboltケーブルが必要となる。
